Autumn 1 - Colours and Shapes|
This term we will be learning about our colours and shapes. We will be taking part in lots of activities to help us to learn about this.
It is important that the children know all of their basic colours and shapes. We would be very greatful if parents could help their children to learn these at home too.
This half term we are going to be reading and learning about traditional tales. Ask your child 'what makes a story a traditional tale?' 'What story is a traditional tale?'
So far in class we have read The Three Little Pigs, Golidlocks and the Three Bears and The Gingerbread Man. We have been busy making and tasting porridge, helping the electronic pigs find their homes made of sticks, bricks and straw as well as writing about these stories. This week we are going to make gingerbread men and talk about how the ingredients change as we mix and cook them.
Look out for the photographs!
We're Going on a Bear Hunt|
Today the children in Reception acted out the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt.' As a class they thought about how to make the props for each of the scenes from the story. They used resouces to make the grass, river, mud, the forest, snow storm and the cave. We read the story together and the children joined in with the repeated phrases.
Take a look at the pictures below to see what fun they had...
The Foundation Stage will be learning all about bears for 3 weeks during this half term. In class they will be learning lots of information about real bears - the names of them, where they live and what they like to eat.
