At St. Mary's we use Accelerated Reader as our reading scheme in Year 2 - Year 6. Accelerated Reader gives students significantly greater choice in levelled books and quizzes than any comparable reading programme. There are over 37,000 reading practice quizzes available on books from over 300 publishers and imprints. Independent of any publishing interests and suitable for students of primary and secondary age, AR ensures that there are plenty of books to interest every reader available on the programme.

By providing a wide range of books of all texts types, we aim to deepen and broaden children's reading experiences and foster a love of reading as they progress through school, from their beginnings in Early Years until they leave us at the end of Year 6.

We aim to send them off into the world as capable, life-long readers, who read for pleasure, for knowledge and for enjoyment.
