Magister RE Curriculum
What is 'Magister'?
At St Mary’s CP School, Kells, we use Magister Religious Education Planning to deliver a high-quality, engaging and progressive RE curriculum that enables children to grow in faith, knowledge and understanding. Rooted in Scripture, Catholic teaching and the lived experience of faith, Magister provides a rich and inspiring programme of study that helps pupils make meaningful connections between their learning and everyday life.
We chose Magister because it is fully compliant with the Religious Education Directory (RED) and has been approved for use by the Bishop and the Diocese of Lancaster, ensuring that our Religious Education provision meets the highest standards of Catholic education. Its clear progression, engaging resources and focus on both knowledge and personal response allow children to deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith while developing the skills to reflect, question and think critically.
Through Magister, we aim to provide outstanding Religious Education that nurtures children's spiritual, moral and academic development, helping them to become confident, compassionate and faith-filled young people who are ready to live out Gospel values in their daily lives and contribute positively to the wider world.
The Programme is divided into Six Branches which follow the Liturgical Year of the church:
1: Creation and Covenant 2: Prophecy and Promise
3: Galilee to Jerusalem 4: Desert to Garden
5: Ends of the Earth 6: Dialogue and Encounter
